Random Recommendation (book) - Alexander, God, King, Man

i am not the biggest reader, but i try to read every 2 months at least one book. This can be a thin book or a thiccc book. i almost finished reading “Alexander, God, King, Man” and let me tell you it is great!

i recommend this book to anyone who loves history but is not the biggest fan of slow, old and long history books. The writer, Edmund Richardson, writes playfully but gives a lot of information in between. You feel like you are standing next to the characters - like Alexander - but also look from other perspectives with the information we have now. It tells the history of cities, civilizations & other kings & dynasties from the past & future. i will not lie, the book contains pictures and i definitely do not complain about that. It gives you more insight into how people preserved information in the past and how they can communicate with us after thousands of years.

For anyone who is a non-native English speaker (like me) or overall struggles reading. This book does not use any fancy words. It is very clear to understand what Mr. Richardson is trying to explain. I do however recommend to look into the Gods of Egypt and of Greece. It would not hurt to also check out some notable characters of the Greek civilization, like Aristotle, Achilles (and the Trojan war) and Herodotus (The Father of History). The epsido of the podcast The Fall of Civilizations about the Persian empire is a masterpiece and a joy to listen to. It will help you out on understanding the characters better in the book itself.

Overall i definitely recommend it! See you in the next random recommendation.
